ASGW Leadership Institute

You are invited to apply to participate in ASGW’s first-ever Leadership Institute in Portland, OR prior to the start of our 2024 Conference! This institute is designed to support emerging leaders with a passion for group work as they explore what it means to be a professional leader and to use group work to support their efforts. Our chosen service project is designed to bring our conference theme and organizational mission to life and will allow participants to use their group work and leadership skills to support fellow professionals and community members local to our conference site.

All ASGW members who are engaged in doctoral-level study are invited to apply, as well as those who are currently in the first two years of their work as educators or helping professionals (master’s graduates). Special consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating a strong passion for social justice, a commitment to embracing and celebrating diversity, and an awareness of the specific needs of this year’s target population (unhoused and/or underprivileged individuals).

As we prepare for another engaging conference in Portland, the Special Initiatives Committee is excited to announce we have adjusted the deadline for the ASGW Leadership Institute!

To allow for ample planning, the deadline has been adjusted to Friday, November 3 to better match with conference proposal acceptance decisions. We invite you to consider this opportunity to learn from ASGW leadership and be a part of an outreach initiative in the Portland community!
